Biography

Dr Michiel Foulon is Guest Professor at the Political Science department at University of Antwerp and Senior Associate Fellow in the Europe in the World programme at the Egmont Institute.

His research intersects European security, US-China relations, digital infrastructures, and theories of international relations. He advises European governments and has published policy work with the Center of Security Studies at ETH Zurich and The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, covering European security, the role of technologies in US-China competition, and national security strategies. His academic work on these topics has been published in leading journals including Contemporary Security Policy, European Journal of International Security, International Studies Review, European Journal of International Relations, and the Oxford Encyclopedia of Politics.

Michiel holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from University of Warwick (UK), an MA in International Political Economy from Warwick, and a Master of Business Administration from HUB/EHSAL. Previously, he was a Senior Researcher at the Center for Security Studies at ETH Zurich, Assistant Professor at Leiden University, Lecturer at Warwick, and Visiting Professor at Maastricht University.
