Edouard Xia
Biography
Dr. Edouard Xia is a researcher at the Institute of Political Science Louvain-Europe (ISPOLE), a fellow at the Center for International Crisis and Conflict Studies (CECRI), a fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF), and a fellow of the Foundation for the Study of International Relations Romain Yakemtchouk (FERI). He joined the Egmont Institute in September 2026 as a Senior Associate Fellow in the Europe in the World programme.
He holds a PhD in Political Science from UCLouvain, as well as a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Law. He previously worked at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2023–2024) and at the Belgian Embassy in China (2025).
His research focuses on Belgian foreign policy, multilateralism, power and globalization, as well as China’s international relations. In 2026–2027, Dr. Xia will be a Visiting Scholar at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and will hold the Claude Roosens Chair of Diplomatic History at UCLouvain.
