Alec Barcenilla

Biography

Alec Barcenilla joined the Egmont Institute in September 2026 as Trainee Project Manager for the Education & Training Programme, where he contributes to various initiatives including different exchanges of expertise with foreign diplomats and the Belgian Generic Training.

He currently produces research for the Paris-based think tank EISMENA. Before joining Egmont, Alec completed the Blue Book (European Commission) traineeship in inter-agency coordination. Previously, he worked at the Spanish Embassy in Morocco and for a Spanish NGO in Kenya. Originally a Business and Chinese graduate, he holds a Master’s in International Development and a Diploma in Humanitarian Action.
