Biography

Dr Rebecca Brubaker joined the Egmont Institute in September 2026 as Senior Associate Fellow in the Africa Programme, where she brings twenty years of experience working in international organizations and in academia. She has worked for the United Nations and other international organizations, leading portfolios relating to conflict prevention, transitional justice, humanitarian affairs, and sanctions. She has also worked for national and local authorities, supporting conflict resolution and dialogue processes.

Dr. Brubaker has served as a Fulbright Scholar, a Wiener Anspach Fellow (at ULB), and she was recently awarded the Academy of International Affairs (NWR) Fellowship.

She holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford and is a faculty member in the School of International Relations at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland (on leave Autumn 2026).
