Deogrâce Dokoui

Biography

Deogrâce Dokoui joined the Egmont Institute in September 2026 as a Research Trainee for the Africa Programme. He is currently completing a master’s degree in international relations, with a specialization in diplomacy, peace and conflict resolution, at UCLouvain.

Deogrâce also holds a master’s degree in social and military sciences, specializing in security studies for defence, from the Royal Military Academy, where he graduated with distinction. His master’s thesis examined Russian cognitive warfare and influence operations in the Sahel.

A former cadet of the Royal Military Academy and former infantry officer within the Belgian Defence, Deogrâce has training experience across Belgium and Africa as Platoon Commander. He also has military experience in the Sahel, notably in Burkina Faso between 2012 and 2019, with the Prytanée militaire de Kadiogo.

His academic interests include hybrid warfare, foreign military and security influence, particularly Russian interference in African fragile regions, and peace processes.
