Yf Reykers
Biography
Yf Reykers is Associate Professor of International Relations in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. He is also Co-Editor of Contemporary Security Policy. He joined the Egmont Institute in September 2026 as a Senior Associate Fellow in the Europe in the World programme.
His research focuses on European security and defence, with particular attention to ad hoc coalitions and European defence cooperation. His current research examines the emergence, organisation and strategic use of coalitions and new forms of cooperation in European and international security.
His work has appeared in leading journals including International Affairs, Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of European Integration, European Security, Contemporary Security Policy, Cooperation and Conflict, International Peacekeeping, Parliamentary Affairs and Third World Quarterly. He is co-editor of Multinational Rapid Response Mechanisms: From Institutional Proliferation to Institutional Exploitation (Routledge, 2019).
Yf received his PhD from KU Leuven. He has been a visiting scholar at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute, the Center on International Cooperation at New York University, and Aarhus University.
