Biography

Helin Bolat joined the Egmont Institute in March 2026 as a Programme Assistant in the European Affairs Programme. She holds a Master’s degree in European Studies, with a specialisation in European Political Affairs and Governance, from the Université libre de Bruxelles.

Her Master’s thesis examined Türkiye’s strategic use of bilateral migration agreements with Qatar, Syria, and the European Union through a framing analysis approach. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Maastricht University, where her thesis analysed Erdo?an’s Eurosceptic discourse during the EU–Türkiye accession process (2016–2017) in the context of EU enlargement. During her studies, she completed an Erasmus exchange at Koç University, further supporting her academic focus on Türkiye.

Her research interests include EU enlargement, migration, EU external relations, and EU–Türkiye relations.
