Noemi Meloni
Biography
Noemi Meloni joined the Egmont Institute in March 2026 as a Programme Assistant in the European Affairs Programme. She is currently completing a Master of Science in European Studies at Maastricht University, specialising in European External Action and qualitative research methods.
Her Research Master’s thesis examines the evolution of Japanese expectations towards the European Union, with a particular focus on economic security as a key dimension of the EU’s external action in the Indo-Pacific.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Maastricht University. Her Bachelor’s thesis analysed the role of political discourse in shaping European and Russian identities following the invasion of Ukraine.
Her academic experience includes an Erasmus exchange at the University of Oslo and a study abroad semester at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, contributing to her regional expertise on Europe and the Indo-Pacific.
Her research interests include EU external action, global governance, Indo-Pacific geopolitics, and security policy.
