Hans Hoebeke
Biography
Hans Hoebeke holds a degree in Political Science (International Relations) from Ghent University (1996) and is fluent in Dutch, French and English. He joined the Africa Programme as Senior Research Fellow in May 2006 focusing on the political and security developments in Central Africa (DRC, Burundi and Rwanda), African peace and security (in particular APSA and the African Union) and state-building with a focus on Security Sector Reform (SSR). Hans left the Institute in 2014 to become Senior Analyst Congo at International Crisis Group. He remains involved in the activities of the Institute.
Before joining the Institute, Hans worked as a desk officer at the Belgian Ministry for Foreign Affairs (1997-2000), as Attaché at the Cabinet of the Minister for Foreign Affairs (1999), as political analyst at the Belgian Ministry of Defense (2000-2005) and as a Research Fellow at the Conflict Research Unit (CRU) of the Clingendael Institute (The Hague, the Netherlands) (2005-2006).
