Biography

Julie Godin is currently the Director of the Education & Training Programme at the Egmont Institute, which she joined in 2012.

In March 2012, she joined the Africa Program of the Egmont Institute as Programme Manager for the “Observatoire de l’Afrique”.

Before joining the Institute, Julie Godin has been Political Adviser (2006-2011) of the European Union Special Representative for the African Great Lakes Region (EUSR). She analysed and advised the EUSR on implementation of the EU political priorities in the Great Lakes Region, specifically in relation to their legal aspects: the fight against impunity, transitional justice and the respect of Human rights, women and children.
From 2001 to 2006, Julie Godin worked as Desk officer for various countries of the African Great Lakes Region at the European Commission, Development Directorate General.
Julie Godin obtained a Master degree in Law (1999) from the ‘Université Catholique de Louvain’ and a Master degree in International Public Law from the ‘Université Libre de Bruxelles’ (2001).

She speaks French, English and German.
