The European elections: what is at stake for the citizens? An analysis of the EU’s legitimacy and policy challenges
In
From 22 to 25 May 2014, citizens across the EU will decide the shape of the next European Parliament. In the past, European elections often received little attention from the media or the wider public. This is a mistake: elections at the EU level matter. In order to highlight the importance of the EU elections, the Egmont Institute asked a range of experts to discuss the key issues that the EU will face during the European Parliament’s next term. These issues concern both the EU’s legitimacy, as well as its policy challenges ahead. This publication provides the collection of these various contributions. More information about the publication and the Egmont Institute’s project “The Citizen and the European Elections” can be found on the project’s website.
