Theory Meets Practice

Through its Focus on Theory Meets Practice, Egmont has established itself as the pre-eminent Brussels venue where students of strategy, both academics and practitioners, analyse challenges to the European interest and explore strategies for dealing with them. Originally established at the initiative of Egmont and officers working in the EU Military Staff, Theory Meets Practice now addresses national, EU, and NATO strategy, with a focus on Grand Strategy, and on security and defence, through a series of closed-door meetings. We also regularly organise expert seminars, notably in cooperation with Ghent University and its Ghent Grand Strategy Seminars.

Head: Prof. Dr Sven Biscop
