Vacancy: Egmont and EPC Are Recruiting a Research Fellow

The Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations and the European Policy Centre (EPC), with the kind support of the King Baudouin Foundation, are recruiting a Joint Research Fellow, for a period of 2 years, starting in January 2018.
The main responsibility of the Join Research Fellow will be to implement a joint Egmont – EPC project on EU external relations and geo-economics. This project looks at the intersection between external economic and political tools in fostering EU values and interests on the global stage and at the geo-economic strategies of other major international actors. China’s Belt and Road Initiative will be a topic of attention in this context.
The main tasks of the Joint Research Fellow will include:
- Monitoring policy developments at EU and member state level, as relevant.
- Organising a series of related events (drafting event proposals, invitations and programmes, contacting speakers).
- Research and producing or contributing to the project’s publications.
- Liaising with external experts and interested stakeholders.
Furthermore, the Joint Research Fellow will act as liaison officer between the EPC and Egmont and support their cooperation in any other area of activity, as relevant.
You have two to five years relevant professional experience, a Master’s degree in political science, economics or law, and excellent writing and speaking skills in English. Active knowledge of either French or Dutch, and passive knowledge of the other, is an asset.
