On 21 August 2026, the Wanawake Viongozi – Professional Growth and Support Programme for Women Leaders in Kigoma officially concluded with a closing ceremony in Dodoma. Over 8 months, 20 women leaders took part in a comprehensive professional development journey combining mentorship, confidence and communication, strategic leadership and sustainable impact, complemented by exchanges with women leaders from Belgium. Implemented by the Education & Training Programme of the Egmont Institute in partnership with Enabel and the Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC), the programme aimed to strengthen women’s leadership, visibility and participation in public decision-making in the Kigoma Region.
Bringing together participants, partners and Tanzanian stakeholders, the closing ceremony provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved and on the importance of strong professional networks and continued support for women in public leadership. Throughout the programme, participants strengthened their leadership skills, shared experiences and developed a network intended to continue beyond the programme itself. The initiative benefited from the expertise of TPSC and from the contribution of the Federal Public Service Policy and Support (FPS BOSA), which mobilised trainers and coaches throughout the different modules.
