Biography

Fiona De Cuyper joined the Egmont Institute in September 2024 as a Junior Researcher in the European Affairs Programme, where she focuses on the Arctic project. She is also affiliated with The Arctic Institute – Center for Circumpolar Security Studies where her contributions mainly focus on Arctic geopolitics and extractivism, as well as the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe), where works on the future of East-West cooperation as part of the Fresh Look at Eastern European Trends-network.

Her other experiences include projects and roles at the Oxford Transitional Justice Research Group, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the EU, the OSCE, and the Belgian Embassy in Moscow.

She recently finished a Master’s degree in Diplomatic Studies at the University of Oxford and holds additional degrees in International and European Law (LL.M), European and International Governance (MSc), and Social Sciences (BSc) from the Free University of Brussels and Ghent University.
