Trainee Project Assistant for the European Affairs Programme

The Egmont Institute is looking for a talented, skilled, and motivated trainee to join our European Affairs Programme as Project Assistant. The position involves providing logistical and organizational support for our projects and events and assisting in research activities. You will assist us with the ongoing projects of our team concerning the Arctic but also on other topics which will feature on our work plan for the next year.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in European studies, political science, international relations, law, or a related discipline
- Knowledge of the internal workings of the EU institutions and decision-making processes
- Excellent drafting and editing skills
- Excellent organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and prioritizing, being responsive and a fast learner and have attention to detail; experience in the organization of events in the field of EU affairs and/or experience in EU projects are considered an advantage
- Fluency in English, and in French or Dutch is an asset
- Knowledge of MS Office
- Interest in working in a multicultural team
- Eligible to work in Belgium (EU citizen or valid work permit)
Our offer
We offer remunerated traineeship for a period of 6 months, starting on 1st February 2025.The successful candidate will join our dynamic office, where everyone plays an important role and has an impact. He/she will be in contact with representatives of the Belgian MFA, EU institutions, think tanks and academic organizations across Europe. The traineeship provides an opportunity to broaden your network in these circles and to fully experience the day-to-day work of a Brussels-based think tank.

Trainee Project Assistants for the Education & Training Programme
Application deadline: 5 January 2025
The Egmont Institute’s Education & Training Programme is looking to recruit 2-3 Trainee Project Assistants in Brussels, starting February 3, 2025, for a period of 5 months.
The internships will involve supporting the Education & Training Programme in the strategic development of future training courses in the fields of diplomacy, civil crisis management and public administration, in partnership with National Schools of Administration in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as providing logistical and organizational support for their implementation.
Qualifications required for the internship:
- Master’s level or equivalent;
- Professional command of French and English (writing tasks in both languages). Knowledge of Dutch is a plus;
- Multi-tasking, good organizational skills, dynamism, sense of initiative, and resistance to stress during training periods;
- Team spirit.
Are an asset:
- Experience in or related to diplomacy and/or public administration and/or European institutions, notably in embassies or in a ministry;
- Experience in organizing events, in particular with diplomats and/or staff of national or international public administrations;
- Experience in project management (budgeting, drawing up schedules and timetables).
- Proficiency in social networking/communication/videoconferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.).
The Education & Training Programme offers an internship:

- A chance to meet a wide range of national and international professionals, academics and diplomats, and to improve your knowledge of the workings of the institutions present in Brussels and Belgium (NATO, EEAS, European Parliament, Belgian Parliament, Belgian Permanent Representations, Port of Antwerp).

- A 5-month, in person, Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP);
- A net allowance of €1,110/month;
- Reimbursement of home-work transport in accordance with the applicable collective agreement;
- One day off per month.

The Communications & Events department of the Egmont Institute is regularly looking for the assistance of a full-time Intern for periods of 3-4 months during the academic year. The internship is not remunerated, is onsite in our Brussels office, and must be combined with ongoing studies in a Belgian university. Our working language is primarily English, so a minimum C1 level is required.

The European Affairs Programme at the Egmont Institute regularly seeks a full-time Intern to support its research activities and events for 3–4-month periods during the academic year. Knowledge of the internal workings of the EU institutions and decision-making processes is essential.
This onsite internship, based in our Brussels office, is unpaid and must be combined with ongoing studies in a Belgian university. The working language is English, and proficiency in Dutch or French is an asset. We are looking for a fast learner with a positive attitude and a wide range of interests.
