The Egmont Institute has the pleasure to invite you to an Africa Seminar on 19 September 2024 on the topic of Uganda’s refugee model, which has received attention for its originality, generosity and more recently, its challenges. In this seminar, four experts on the topic will discuss Uganda’s refugee politics from a global, regional and national perspective, providing both a broader understanding of what the implications of the current model are, and what lessons that can be learned from the current challenges it is facing, drawing on the recently published Egmont Policy brief: The Politics of Food and the Myth of the Self-Reliant Refugee in Uganda  and an upcoming Policy Brief by Kristof Titeca.

Kristof Titeca, Professor at IOB, University of Antwerp,  Senior Associate Fellow, Egmont Institute.

Roos Derrix, FWO PhD student at the IOB, University of Antwerp.

Nina Soudan, Graduate in International Politics with fieldwork experience in Uganda and Burundi, focusing on refugees and border dynamics in Eastern Africa.
