This expert seminar examined the opportunities which climate change could offer to mankind in the Arctic. Actually, it appears that most of them remain illusory for the time being either by lack of infrastructure, high exploitation costs or remaining legal issues on the territorial and sea divides of the region. But the Arctic is also a geostrategic and environmental issue which should be dealt with by the IC in order to avoid a legal vacuum, preserve peace and security and protect its unique Environment.
