The Egmont Institute is pleased to invite you for an in-person Expert Roundtable focusing on Spain’s forthcoming regularisation initiative and its broader implications within migration governance in the Europe.

The Spanish initiative has renewed discussions on the role of regularisation as a policy instrument within the European Union. While often politically sensitive, regularisation has been employed by several Member States as a pragmatic response to labour market as well as humanitarian needs, demographic pressures, and the presence of migrants in informal employment.

The discussion will examine the rationale behind the Spanish approach, assess its potential impact in light of previous regularisations, and explore related policy considerations, while also opening the exchange to broader issues at the European level.

The roundtable will be introduced by Spain’s former Secretary of State for Immigration and Emigration Anna Terrón Cusi, with contributions from Rudi Delarue (President of the Belgian National Labour Council) and Michele LeVoy (Director of PICUM).
