Dr. Tull will discuss the recent coup d’état in Mali. The coup, as well as the constant deterioration of the security environment in Mali since 2016 has drawn attention both to the state of Mali’s security forces and outside efforts to assist in rebuilding them. This presentation will highlight the contextual, political and operational challenges that continue to hamper security force assistance in Mali. It will also address the political dilemmas that the international community continues to face in the post-coup era.
