EU policies are the result of the member states’ needs and their perceptions of what the EU can do better than them individually. This is particularly true when applied to European intergovernmental policies developed within the EU framework, like the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

The document seeks to provide better understand ing on the insights of 7 EU capitals vision regarding CSDP. It is about the perspective of different academics and analysts from various think-tanks, from the inside, not the already known institutional stance of each capital.

In these times of uncertainty, knowing a little more about how much and why different countries understand and support CSDP should contribute to the ongoing debate on the future of European security and defense.
