The Egmont Institute’s Education and Training programme, in collaboration with the SPF, organized a new edition of the Welcome Programme for 30 diplomats recently posted to Brussels. The aim of this programme is to introduce these diplomats to Belgium in all its facets – political, institutional and cultural – as well as to provide participants with relevant information linked to the exercise of their function in Belgium.
Presentations on the workings of the FPS Foreign Affairs, federal and regional foreign trade agencies, consular affairs, the organisation of official visits and diplomatic and consular privileges and immunities were given to participants by various internal and external experts. Visits to the Federal Parliament, downtown Brussels, the Port of Antwerp, Brussels International Airport, and the Hergé Museum were also organised.
This programme contributes to Belgium’s efforts to strengthen bilateral ties with the 30 embassies represented and their respective administrations.
