On 3 October 2024, the Egmont Institute, in collaboration with Ukrainian Prism Europe, is hosting a public event to discuss the future of Temporary Protection (TP) status for Ukrainians after March 2026. The event aims to provide a comprehensive examination of the current TP framework and explore future pathways through the presentation of a Ukrainian Prism Europe policy paper on this matter, followed by a panel discussion. The discussion will bring together experts, policymakers, civil society representatives and the public to explore strategies to ensure the continued support and integration of Ukrainians in the EU or to facilitate their voluntary return to Ukraine.
With the Council’s decision in June to extend TP status until March 2026, the need to develop sustainable and long-term solutions for Ukrainians remains critical. The panel discussion will focus on policy recommendations, implementation strategies and the role of different stakeholders in shaping the future of TP status.
