On 18th February 2019, the Egmont Education & Training Programme launched a two-week training session in Brussels for a group of Palestinian diplomats, organised on behalf of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Modules aimed at reinforcing their diplomatic skills with a special focus on the institutions, the decision-making and the policies of the European Union. The training highlighted Brussels’ special position regarding international organisations and Belgium’s relation to multilateralism.
Objectives:
- Presenting the Belgian diplomacy and foreign policy in the European context
- Discuss the key challenges of the European Union and its policies in the Middle East
- Creating and enhancing professional contacts between Belgian and foreign diplomats and European actors working on the Middle East Peace Process
- Understanding the negotiation culture of the European Union and the use and purpose of lobbying
