Shadows of a radicalized youth. The struggle with Jihadism in the Mediterranean and the EU

Date

29 May 2018

Location

Egmont Palace, Place du Petit Sablon, 8bis, 1000 Brussels

The event analyses the regional situation of Jihadist movements in the Mediterranean and the EU. It focuses on drivers of extremism and its longstanding tradition in the affected countries and asks how to most effectively counter a growing jihadist threat related to youth radicalization. Moreover, the panel wants to discuss how to build-up a long-lasting partnership between authorities, youth movements and communities to address underlying factors that can make communities vulnerable to violent extremism. Finally, the objective of the event is to reflect how to deploy a dialogue between the Mediterranean and the EU to exchange best practices for tackling youth radicalization.
