High Level Conference – What are the European stakes towards COP21 and beyond?
Date
10 November 2015
Location
Egmont Palace, 8bis, Place du Petit Sablon, 1000 Brussels
After the three successful Symposia on the Security of EU’s electricity and gas supply as well as on reforming the EU ETS, Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations and the Development Group organised a High-Level Conference on the European stakes towards COP21 and beyond.
The stakes for the European Union and the International Community to reach a global climate agreement at the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP21) could not be higher. Indeed, the overall objective is not only to achieve an effective and fair response to global climate change, but also to ensure that the implementation of the European Climate and Energy Strategy fits into this new global climate agreement. Therefore, the 1st Session addressed the challenges for Europe in the run up to COP21, while the 2nd Session analysed what are the stakes for Europe in the aftermath of COP21.
