The 2015 elections in Burundi

Between May 26 and August 24 2015, Burundi will hold local, parliamentary, and presidential elections in a politically highly volatile environment. The aim of this briefing is to examine the political landscape in Burundi and discuss different dynamics and their implications for the electoral process in general, including their impact on democratization and state-building. The key issues that will be addressed are the inter- and intra- party dynamics, grassroots mobilization, multiparty competition, political violence and the possible impact of the elections in Burundi on regional cooperation.
