Under the umbrella of the ESDC, the Egmont Institute together with DEVCO organized the first pilot CSDP Orientation Course on fragility, security and development in the context of EU External Action. The course was delivered for a mixed audience of 70 people of military, civilian personnel from EU – Member States, EU Institutions and Agencies, Candidate States and Acceding states.
The CSDP Orientation Course is a major component of the EU’s training activities and forms a part of the CFSP. Since the establishment of the European Security and Defence College in 2005, it has provided joint training for civilian and military personnel at the EU level and has enhanced professional relations and cooperation in the field of CSDP.
Each year until 2014 Egmont has been running a training programme for around 15 junior Central and Western African diplomats as well as Haitians, on request of Wallonie Bruxelles International – WBI. This programme addressed the EU and its institutions, international peace and security, Belgian political system and diplomacy.
